The Bay Area's largest plant sale of the year, featuring over 4,000 different kinds of plants - many exclusive to the Garden's Nursery!

Member Benefits

 

All Garden members get early access to the sale and receive a 10% discount on purchases by either showing their current Membership card, or a temporary Membership Card.

Volunteer!

​

The spring plant sale draws on the support of more than 200 volunteers, from corporate and community groups who help set up and transport plants, to a host of dedicated, long-term nursery volunteers who propagate and tend plants year-round, sharing their valuable knowledge with visitors during the sale.

​

Special Activities

​

Andytown Coffee Roasters

Andytown will provide free drip coffee to Garden Members from 11am – 1pm on Saturday, May 4. Garden Members may purchase other coffee beverages if they wish. After 1pm Members no longer receive free drip coffee and all coffee is available via purchase. Coffee beverages will be available during all public sale hours, too.

 

Golden Gate Sharpening

Bring your tools and allow the experts from Golden Gate Sharpening to sharpen them. Golden Gate Sharpening will be donating 50% of proceeds back to the Garden. For more details and information about their rates, please see their website 

 

Hida Tool & Hardware Company

Hida Tool &  Hardware Company will have their renowned tools available for sale.  For more details and information about the company, please see their website

Specialty Plants 

Enjoy a Specialty Plant Sale area full of rare specimens and unique materials, available on a “first come, first served” basis. From Acer to Zamioculcas, you can choose from a spectacular range of plant specimens to kick off your spring gardening!

Family Fun Zone

Hands on plant activities for the whole family provided by the Garden's Youth Education team. 

​

UC Master Gardener Program of San Mateo and San Francisco Counties

Our local Master Gardeners will be available to answer additional gardening questions on Saturday, May 4.

California Pipevine Swallowtail Project

Learn all about Garden Volunteer Tim Wong’s work with these beautiful, locally-rare butterflies and their only native host plant, California Pipevine! There will be caterpillars and butterflies for you to see as well as California Pipevine for sale. 

​

Gardeneur

An online marketplace dedicated for plants, will be jointly selling houseplants and succulents and donating back 30% of proceeds to the Garden. For more details and information on how to buy, sell, or share your plants, please visit their website

Know Before You Go

​

Transportation

County Fair Building is accessible via numerous Muni routes such as the N-Judah streetcar, 44, 71, 28, 29, 7 and 6 buses.

 

Bike Racks

There are many bike racks available outside the County Fair Building for bike parking.

 

Rideshare

Please enter “9th Avenue and Lincoln Way” as your pick-up or drop-off address for car share services.

 

Parking

Street parking is limited but available throughout Golden Gate Park. Paid parking in the Music Concourse Parking Garage is available as well.

 

Plant Pick-Up/Loading

Plant loading zone is accessible off Lincoln Way at 10th Avenue in the parking lot behind the County Fair Building. The loading zone is available post-purchase for plants to be safely stored while you retrieve your vehicle. Staff and volunteers will be available in the parking lot to assist.

 

Will Call

Feel free to utilize will call to temporarily store your plants so you can get more. We will hold plants until the end of each day at which point, plants will be returned to the sales floor.
