About the event
Learn the basics of drawing flowers, painting in watercolor and tips for sketching from life and outdoors. Students in this workshop will gain an understanding of basic drawing skills as applied to flowers and nature. The instructor will demonstrate the essential anatomy of botanicals and what to look for, including the common rhythms of nature and how to improve observational skills. The instructor will demonstrate the essential anatomy of botanicals and what to look for, including the common rhythms of nature and how to improve observational skills. Participants are asked to bring their own supplies (sketchbook, drawing materials, watercolor, etc.), there will be a small supply list sent out if one would like to purchase the recommended supplies. Please, no oils or acrylics at this time.
The workshop will first meet in an indoor classroom space where the instructor will cover the basic sketching instruction and techniques being used. From there, the class will move outdoors into the Garden for the main drawing activities. Instruction will be provided both in group settings and on an individual basis to ensure all skill levels are accommodated.

About the Artist:
David Tenorio holds a BFA from the University of Texas at Austin. He has been mentoring and teaching art for over 15 years to high school students, filmmakers and adults. David's specialties include figure drawing, illustration, sketchbook techniques, urban sketching and much more. He also works in art curriculum development and has conducted drawing workshops around the country.
