About the event
Spend two hours drawing some of SFBG's most notable winter and early spring blooms, magnolias and camellias, in colored pencil. The unique colors of magnolias and camellias provide the opportunity to practice mixing and layering color and exploring watercolor pencil to underpaint and capture the translucency and delicacy of these flowers. You will have a unique opportunity to draw specimens that the Garden will provide.
Nina has a Fine Arts degree and a Certificate in Botanical Illustration from the New York Botanical Gardens. and studied at the Ruskin School of Art in Oxford. She teaches throughout California and is a member of the Filoli Florilegium and the Alcatraz Florilegium. Her Chinese Maple was recently selected for the deYoung Open. She works in colored pencil, watercolor pencil, and fabric. Her botanicals can be viewed at her web site, www.pcquilt.com
