Marilyn Bancel: For many years I have studied Chinese brush painting with Joseph Yan and Janny Huang. California's native trees especially appeal to me as painting subjects. They are part of my family story as surely as were my ancestors who arrived in San Francisco in 1873 when Golden Gate Park was still under construction.
