Does anyone else hear something strange in the Garden?

It's officially Flower Piano! All day no matter where we went we could hear beautiful music being played. We spent a lot of our morning drifting from piano to piano enjoying the tunes while learning about our theme for the day: Biodiversity is Best!

During our time with AJ we learned about the life cycle of a bee! Does your camper remember the stages? They go from egg to larvae to pupa to bees! Campers were able to create their own bees as they acted as pollinators, learning about pollination cycles as well.

While talking about the bees and ways that we can save them, we started conversations with campers about climate change and what that looks like in our day to day lives.

During our time with Ingrid we learned a little bit more about climate change and talked about how it makes us feel. While talking about our feelings and the world around us that is shifting, we spent some time learning about the importance of reaching out to people in charge so we can work together to create change. Campers wrote letters to Nancy Pelosi about the Green New Deal that we're going to send from SFBG!

Questions For My Camper:

-Tell me about some different ways that seeds disperse. If you were a plant, how would you want your seeds to disperse?

-What did you learn about climate change today? How does that make you feel? Why does it make you feel that way?

-What is something new that you learned today? Who is someone you could share that with?

We've had a great week so far and we can't believe that tomorrow is already Friday.

If you are interested in learning a little bit more about what we did this week with our groups, we invite you to join us at the Great Meadow on Friday at 3:15p. Our campers will sit in circles with their groups and discuss different things they learned and review different activities they participated in together. We will ask you to sign-out your camper upon arrival to our Open House but you are welcome to stay until your group has completed their circle time. We will begin transitioning from our Open House to Pick-Up around 3:45pm. At this time you are welcome to head out with your camper.

Thank you so much for choosing Garden Camp and sharing another wonderful day with us!
