July 19th - Last Day of Camp!

What beautiful weather we ended up having for our last day of camp!

Wrapping up our week learning about Extraordinary Ecosystems, today our campers had a large focus on California Native Plants. The goals we had for our day included recognizing some California native plants and learning about how those plants support native wildlife.

To start off our day we headed straight for the California Native Garden.

Normally in the California Native Garden our campers would have a chance to play bingo - but right in the center of our circle was a piano! So instead, campers were able to take breaks between learning about some native plants with Ingrid, painting with water colors, and listening to the beautiful music that was brought to us.

With AJ campers had a blast doing some habitat exploration. Campers got to take magnifying glasses and flip over logs while looking for bugs. Some things that they found include earwigs, beetles, salamanders, and California Native snails!

If you were one of the families to join us on the Great Meadow--thank you for coming out! Your campers worked hard on their mural and proudly displayed it for all to see. If you couldn't make it, no worries, I'm sure your campers have lots to say about their final day.

Thank you again for such a wonderful week of Garden Camp! It was a blast watching the campers learn and grow together throughout the Garden.

Early next week we'll be sending out our post-camp survey as well as a Dropbox link that contains photos from the week. We ask if you have a moment to please fill out the survey so we can continue to build and strengthen camp together for the rest of the summer.

If your campers are coming back later in the summer, we'll see you soon! If not, we hope they enjoyed spending their time in the Garden with us.

All the best,

Jenn Tapler
