June 19th - Adventure Day

Happy Adventure Day!

Despite the cool weather, campers were able to leave the Botanical Garden and explore some neat places nearby. After donning our Garden camp t-shirts and discussing how to stay safe during Adventure Day, campers and their group leaders headed out nice and early to get started.

The Japanese Tea Garden, which is just a short walk away from the Garden, has free entry days if you can get there before 10 am. Our campers and their leaders hurried through our own gardens to get there on time! While taking in the beauty of the tea garden, campers were able to settle down and spend some time painting water colors in their journals. When hanging out near the pond they were able to learn a little bit about the habitats of the fish that swam there.

From the Japanese Tea Garden, campers headed over to Stow Lake to enjoy their lunch. While they didn't get to do a lot of exploring at the lake, they had plenty of time for observations!

After lunch and play time, where campers got lots of their excess energy out through large group running games, they headed for the de Young Museum to experience all they had to offer. There are lots of interactive displays there that our campers had a great time with.

After thoroughly exploring the de Young museum, campers headed up to the tower, or the observation deck, where they were able to look out across the city and Golden Gate Park. During this time they were journaling and drawing things that they saw. They also spent some time trying to see if they could figure out where they lived!

Overall, Adventure Day was packed with lots of learning and even more joy as we got to see some wonderful things around us.

Questions For My Camper:

-Where are some of the places you went with your group today? Which was your favorite? Why was that your favorite place to be?

-What was the best part of Adventure Day for you?

Adventure is out there! See you tomorrow.
