Time flies when you're having fun!
We can't believe that it's Friday already. It felt like just this morning we were greeting campers at the gate getting ready to learn all about Plants and People and now we're already headed home!
Today's theme was all about Nature and Our Community. We took some time emphasizing how important it is for us to respect nature and share the living light that we have. We also took some time identifying ways that plants are central to our own families and communities. Building off of yesterday we asked campers to share some of the plant based foods they celebrate with, or special plants that might be brought out for holidays.
It's never too early to show campers all of the great things that they do every day that benefit the world at large. Do any of your families compost at home? What about gardening at school? There are many ways that we can work with the planet and our communities to create a greener tomorrow.
With campers today we were able to sample three different creations of our own: lemon balm tea, chamomile tea, and our very own mouthwash! Campers were given a chance to try all three if they were interested.
Along with that we spent some time learning about different birds and their beaks today to prepare for our giant bird nest creation!
Questions For My Camper
-What are some ways that we use plants as a family? -What's the one big thing you learned at Garden Camp this week? Why do you think that is the big thing you remember?
-Which Garden was your favorite to explore? Why was that one your favorite?
-Did you have a favorite activity at camp? Could you tell me about it?
Thank you again for such a wonderful week of Garden Camp! It was a blast watching the campers learn and grow together throughout the Garden. If you were one of the families to join us on the Great Meadow--thank you for coming out! Your campers worked hard on their nests and proudly displayed them for all to see. If you couldn't make it, no worries, I'm sure your campers have lots to say about their final day.
Early next week we'll be sending out our post-camp survey as well as a Dropbox link that contains photos from the week. We ask if you have a moment to please fill out the survey so we can continue to build and strengthen camp together for the rest of the summer.
If your campers are coming back later in the summer, we'll see you soon! If not, we hope they enjoyed spending their time in the Garden with us.
All the best,
